My Letter To Betty
Updated: Jan 9, 2022
Dear Miss White,
I know you don't know me. But you know my heart. I know you didn't think of me while eating all those cheesecakes yet you must have known I'd be joining you. When I sat up watching television in the lonely hours of the night - you were there.
I'm not sure how I feel about your death. I know it was your time, still, I miss you like I miss Bea, Rue, and Estelle. I miss you like a girl misses her man on Valentine's Day. I miss you.
Trailblazing in your signature red hair (and then the blonde), you taught me that all it takes is a little gumption, lots of grace, and plenty of guts to pioneer a man's world and a world filled with truths that are stranger than any of the things seen on TV.
From your days with Mary Tyler Moore to the golden ones with the girls to the modern times with Sandra Bullock, never once did you let yourself say "No," to your dreams. The smiles, the heart, and the laughter - I cherish each. You truly were a Rose.
But I'd be remiss if I didn't tell you what I most admire you most: your love of animals. They were your passion and they were your truth. The way people knew you if even they never shook your hand or met you face to face - they all knew your heart.
For it is rare for God to let a heart so big live for so long on this Earth. But He gave you a gift and you gave until your heart was ready to shine on. You were a gift that even after the rain shower, will still be there cheering me on.
I miss you, Betty, I always will. But I love you. Thank you for being a friend.
To the girls. To everyone. To me.
Your pal & confidante,
Michelle :)
